Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide the best possible learning experience for all students, to encourage students to reach their highest potential as life-long learners and to promote responsible citizenship in our local and global community.

Principal's Message: I am excited to be the new Principal of Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute. Leacock is a community school in the truest sense of the word. We offer a wide variety of courses designed to meet the needs of all the students in our community. We offer courses that lead to all four destinations; workplace, college, apprenticeship and university. We provide additional support for students who need extra help; all the way to Advanced Placement Calculus!

We are proud to be one of the most cultural diverse schools in the Toronto District School Board and as such, we have a variety of culturally based groups and events. We are a safe, small high school that is lucky to have a School-Based Resource Officer. Our Athletic Department is very active, and has teams for most sports running in the Toronto District School Board. In addition to athletics, we also have many other clubs and groups to meet the varied interests of most students. Our Student Council also provides students with great leadership opportunities. Leacock also offers a Magnet Broadcast Television and media program that accepts students from all across the TDSB. With its well equipped facilities, the students transmit our daily announcements and special events each day to televisions in every classroom. This unique program prepares students to be in front of the camera or behind it covering all aspects of the television and new media industry. Many well known people have successfully completed this program, including actor Mike Myers.

I am pleased to announce the start of a new specialized academic program starting in September 2011. The 4 year APEX program will challenge our students academically with enriched AP (Advanced Placement) curriculum and require them to participate as global citizens in our school, in the local community and in grade 11 in an overseas development project. This program will appeal to students who are looking for an academically challenging curriculum with a global social justice theme.
